Founded in 1938, Knoll is a global manufacturer of home and office furnishings dedicated to design excellence. They are committed to offering customers elegantly designed products for office and residential use.
Recognised worldwide as a design leader, Knoll is the recipient of hundreds of design awards, with products represented in major art museums around the world.
Brief
A new European website was required that created a strong sense of brand and conveyed the knoll design ethos. The site needed to cater for both strands of their business (System and Studio) across many territories, presenting the differentiation clearly whilst still appearing cohesive.
Approach
The new structure and design emphasises the collections, families and designers as well as the furniture. Products are presented with strong, imagery, animation and elements of user interaction to bring them to life and showcase the designs.
Solution
Users can search the product database by product type, designer, collection or family and cross-linking between content is used to give a more valuable and informed user experience. The site is both easy to navigate and visually strong creating a simple and sophisticated look that answers both the brand and product needs.
Results
The English version of the European website site launched in December 2008 with the French, Italian, German, Spanish and Dutch to follow in 2009.
