Overview

Ponti's is an Italian family business established in 1963 serving eight million customers annually in and around London. They were keen to develop a Business-to-Business e-Commerce portal that facilitated for secure online ordering and delivery of products.

Brief

Due to a clearly defined business requirement of a number of Ponti's corporate customers they wished to develop an online ordering system to allow their clients to order their requirements in a far more time efficient manner

Approach

ID Media spent a significant amount of time evaluating Ponti's business requirements as well as their clients' needs.

The online delivery system has 4 levels of access for different users.

• Company employees can browse products and place daily orders up to a week in advance.

• They can save favourites for quick repeat orders.

• Company Managers input their employees' user details and set a budget for each user.

• They can see expenditure over defined time periods and cross reference with invoices.

Ponti's Store Managers receive orders, process them and print labels for the orders delivered.

• Ponti's Super Users can upload products, images and prices in the Content Management System. They can view all orders and print invoices and VAT information from the system

Solution

We acknowledged the need to design an ordering system that was easy to use in terms of

• Ordering products

• Completing the payment process securely

• Allowing Ponti's to manage their products

• Managing invoices and accounting information

High level reporting of transactions is available for Ponti's so that they are able to monitor user activity and to gauge the success of this service, and where improvements can be made in the future.

Since the site was launched in 2007, Ponti's has several corporate customers using this service and it has generated a very valuable revenue stream to the company.
